Sharemouse problems3/26/2023 ![]() ![]() Not sure if Barrier allows drag/drop of folders. What about Barrier? Looks to be a fork of Synergy but with a tiny more development. Has anyone had any good/bad experience with Multiplicity? Seems like the only app that allows drag/drop/copying of not only files but folders as well. Is Multiplicity all hype? The reviews I have read and/or watched on Youtube has it edging out slightly higher than Sharemouse according to features, stability and ease of use. I am surprised that there has not been any mention of Multiplicity. Thanks too, for all the replies from many helpful techs and wanna be´s like me. Your information and followup has been exceptional. Thank you Duck for this wonderful overview of both Synergy and Sharemouse. My interest is to put the iMac in a corner and mainly ignore it unless I’m testing my web-site for compatibility in the various browsers on each machine, so other than logins, I’m hoping to control both computers from the PC. ![]() The iMac requires that a mouse be connected to it in order to fully boot-up and login, but neither Synergy nor Sharemouse would have started at this time, so how would this work if both the PC and iMac were just starting up? I saw that there is a switch key that is assigned to the keyboard that will switch between the two computers, presumably so the PC can take control of the iMac and then switch back to itself, if it is the master. I’m not using a wireless keyboard, so in both computers get their own keyboard inputs. The dongles are not addressable, so both computers simultaneously get the same inputs. My situation may be a little different because I’m interested in using a LogiTech TrackBall mouse device attached to a Windows 10 notebook computer with a Universal USB (UUSB) wireless dongle and an iMac, also using the UUSB dongle. I will need to use the RDP go-between, Client2, to access the remote console of Guest21.I was looking at Sharemouse, and then found out about Synergy, buy haven’t tried/bought either, yet. Since it's been built (successfully, Win7, including recent VMware tools), Guest21 no longer works direct from Client1. Unfortunately, I cannot control these updates, so there is nothing I can do to make remote console from Client1 to Guest21 to work directly.Īnother interesting thing - when using new Windows 10 WinPE (before building machine), I could remote from Client1 to Guest21 and I had a dot to follow before Guest21 was fully built. ![]() Have a look at this article, where they are identifying windows updates that may be the problem - note that this is not about uninstalling them from the guest, they need to be uninstalled from the Client (eg Client1 in my case, my primary workstation where I remote console/share/rdp/etc to everything else):Ĭannot get keyboard to work in Client Console 5.5u2 at all, ever. So, it's the client computer (Client1) with the problem, not the other sharing host (Host2 server) or Guest21. When I use Client2 VW12Pro to remote-connect to Guest21 on Host2, the console works fine! But also, it is itself a virtual machine, which I'm RDP'ing to, so session drivers would be different. I've installed an evaluation copy of VW12Pro on another Win7 computer over which I have control of updates - it has an old image without updates since Aug 2015. So: Client1 connected to Guest21 hosted on Host2.Ĭlient1 has the Problem: I cannot use mouse or keyboard for remote sharing console to Guest21 on Host2.īut an interesting thing I've just tested - meet Client2: Remote connection (console, not RDP) from VMware Workstation 12 Pro on Client1 to Guest21. More information/testing, but first context again: VMware Workstation 12 Pro (VW12Pro) running remote server on Host2. I have to do a shutdown and boot up to get Mouse and Keyboard Function back. The Mouse and Keyboard is Locked into the Virtual Machine. It will first be stoppedĪfter the Mouse + Keyboard is connected to the Guest, I cannot get either the Mouse or Keyboard to go back into the Host. A USB device is about toīe unplugged from the host and Connected to this virtual Machine. If you Continue, the device will no longer be Usable in the host. This VM is trying to claim 'Logitech G400 Mouse'. ![]() The mouse + keyboard from the Host and then connect it to the Guest.Īfter I do this I get this message from VMWare. The only way to get the mouse or keyboard to work is if i go to the bottom right of the virtual machine and manually disconnect The only problem is that when I use my mouse to click within the Virtual Machine, I cannot get the Mouse or Keyboard to work. When I run my Virtual Machine from VMware Workstation 10, The Virtual Machine will boot up into the logon screen. I have VMWare Workstation 10 on a Windows 8.1 Pro Laptop. VMWare Workstation 10 not sharing Mouse+KB with Host and Guest ![]()
